LINGER IN THE PARK
Encouraing Tomorrow's Trailblazers
Today’s homeschooling families have A LOT of options for academic programming (lucky us) but some things are harder to nurture at home than others. Soft skills required to be a functional human – skills like learning how to function as part of a team, speak in front of a group & stick with a project – tend to get better with practice (with peers, ideally face-to-face).
Learn + Linger exists to provide growing learners the space to develop the soft skills they need to thrive, with a dash of adventure and a sprinkle of fun. We practice group cooperation, build our public speaking chops, & fan the flames of self-confidence through games, hands-on learning & group discussion.
We’ve embraced the 9 Compassionate Traits from the Roots and Shoots program, so this isn’t just playtime – it’s where the future’s go-getters get their start. Empathy, creativity, cooperative leadership – we’re all about it.
When our structured activities wrap up, the real magic happens. Enter Linger Hours – your new favorite weekly play date that requires zero planning. Unstructured but supervised, it’s time for wild things to rumpus amongst their kind in the park.*

Focus on Social Skills
Our focus on group activities & challenges gives young innovators a comfortable space to practice teamwork, leading without dominating, & mutually respectful cooperation.
Roots & Shoots’ 9 Compassionate Traits are woven through our structured activities to foster an environment where soft skills are nurtured into life skills.
Roots & Shoots
To grow confident action takers, we’ll dedicate one session a month to Jane Goddall’s Roots & Shoots program.
Using the Roots & Shoots 4-Step Project Formula, our young problem-solvers will learn how to identify, plan & complete volunteer projects that improve their local communities while building self-confidence & resilience.
Cultural Celebrations
We’ll celebrate Diwali, Los Dias de Los Muertos, & Holi, participating in hands-on activities that bring these vibrant traditions to life.
By exploring these cultural festivities, we’ll gain a deeper understanding & appreciation of the world’s rich tapestry of traditions, fostering a global perspective and respect for all cultures.
open play
Linger Hours are more than just playtime—they’re a crucial part of our learning adventure. Exploring, creating, & socializing in a natural setting are foundational aspects of healthy development.
When young explorers have the space to imagine, solve problems, and interact freely, cooperative leadership thrives.

On Wednesdays, we Linger (By The Lake)
Every Wednesday from 1:30 – 4pm*, we take over Cauble Park for Linger Hours – a Create-Your-Own Adventure, mid-week social break for our community of wildlings (both the young & the eternally youthful).
The park offers a playground, ample green space & a sandy beach right on the lake. Whether your crew likes to climb, run or splash, Linger Hours is a community play date you don’t have to organize or plan. You certainly won’t have to worry about how your living room looks or whether you’ve handled all the dishes in the sink. In fact, you won’t be thinking about any of those things when you’re enjoying fresh sunshine and relaxed afternoon vibes with other homeschool families. You deserve a break too.
When we say we take over the park – we mean it. Small groups spread out across the lawn, the beach & the playground to swim, climb & forge new friendships. While some kids break off to splash in the lake (as seasonally appropriate), others may be flying kites on the lawn or staking a pirate flag at the top of the playground slide.
This isn’t your average playdate—it’s the park party your kids beg for each week. And all you have to do is show up.
With multiple pavilions on-site and lots of space to spread out on picnic blankets, this is a perfect opportunity for community members to organize special-interest mini-groups. Whether your Imagineers are jonesing for a Dungeons & Dragons quest, a knitting circle or an energetic Therian pack, we’ll be ready to help spread the word on when and where interested friends can gather on-site.
Here’s the kicker: This isn’t a drop-off zone. Parents are on duty, keeping an eye on their mini-me’s because it would be irresponsible of Everyday Adventures to offer supervision near the lake, with dozens of kids & no lifeguards on duty. Parents are 100% responsible for supervising their crew at all times.

The NITTY GRITTY
What ages is this program for?
Our social learning block between 12pm – 1:30pm is targeted towards 3rd – 5th grade learners but welcomes adventurers of all ages who can follow simple instructions, cooperate within a small group & follow along with a group discussion and activity.
Linger Hours are open to all ages & non-participating siblings are welcome to play in the park during structured activities.
Behavior Expectations
This is a super casual social-learning pod that meets in a public park. Neurodivergence is welcome here & quirky is celebrated. We expect wiggly personalities.
In the event of behavior that disrupts group instruction, the responsible adult will be asked to remove their learner from our group activities until they can productively rejoin the group.
Repetitive disruptive behavior that does not improve over a reasonable time is grounds for dismissal from Learn and Linger.
We Cannot Control the Weather…Yet!
Learn and Linger is a 100% outdoor program that meets at Cauble Park in Acworth, Georgia on Wednesdays. There are multiple picnic shelters to gather under on days with mild rain, but we reserve the right to cancel Learn & Linger (without rescheduling) whenever we feel the weather is not cooperating in providing a safe experience for all.
We are exploring options for occasional indoor meeting space for Wednesdays in January – March in Spring 2025. More details to come.
Dollars and Sense
Learn & Linger is a flat $300 per family for the year. This fee includes up to two enrolled students in Learn & Linger AND Adventure Club registration for your entire family.
We negotiate group rates for ticketed field trips & pass those discounts along to our crew. To cover miscellaneous admin costs (including credit card processing fees), we charge a nominal “Sign Up Fee” per ticket (usually $1).
Responsible Adults are Required To Be Present On Site – At All Times
Everyday Adventures Homeschool programs require all children to have a responsible adult on-site at all times. We are not a drop-off program and, for everyone’s safety, cannot act as chaperones for individual adventurers. Responsible adults are not expected to help facilitate structured activities but should be prepared to keep an eye on their kids at all times.
